Sake Study Group & Social – 16 March — The History of Sake!

The BSA Committee is excited to once again invite Members to our ever-popular Study Group. Our theme for this meeting will be the history of sake!

The history of sake making in Japan spans thousands of years. In response to political, social, and economic changes throughout history, the techniques of sake production also have evolved over time. Recently, more and more breweries have been experimenting with old ways of making sake, faithfully recreating sake from ancient recipes, and learning new things by studying the past.

We will travel back in time through Japanese history, tasting ten different sakes from the Nara to the Edo Period. Each sake has its own unique story to tell.  This is an unmissable opportunity to have a taste of history!

*As the BSA will be providing the bottles, for this time, don’t worry about finding a bottle for the study group!

Join us at our usual meeting spot – Vagabond Monument – where charcuterie and fromagerie, small plates, and the ever-popular steak sharers will provide a counterpoint to the range of food-friendly ancient-styled sakes.
