The British Sake Association is pleased to announce details of this year’s Chinese New Year dinner. We have negotiated two tables — just twenty seats — at the British Malaysian Society’s annual banquet, with great thanks to BSA Member Mei Sim Lai for helping us in securing access to this exclusive event for our membership.

Wine is included in the ticket price but, by special arrangement, members who purchase tickets directly through the BSA may also bring one bottle of their own sake (with no corkage). We are therefore encouraging each guest to bring a special bottle to share with fellow Members at their table, to usher in the Year of the Dragon!
The menu for the evening will include:
Yee Sang (Prosperity Tossed Salad)
Lobster with Spring Onions and Noodles
Scallops and Asparagus
Chicken Three Ways with Basil
Classic Crispy Shredded Beef eh?
Sweet & Sour Prawns
… and more delicious, authentic Chinese dishes.
As well as the banquet itself members can enjoy a drinks reception, with Chinese calligraphy and painting; musical entertainment in the form of a Lion Dance, Chinese Opera, and Guzheng (Chinese Harp). The evening will conclude with a charity auction and raffle draw.
The BSA is offering tickets to Members at cost, with net proceeds of the banquet itself supporting the Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch, in aid of the Armed Forces and their families.
This will be a truly memorable evening — filled with fine food and wine, the sake shared by our Members, and a celebration of Chinese culture. We hope you will join us in participating in this inimitable event.
Regrettably, due to the banquet-style meal, special dietary requirements cannot be catered for on this occasion.
