What is Sake?

  • Brewed like a beer, drunk like a wine
  • Main ingredients: rice, koji (rice mould), yeast, water
  • 15-16% alcohol usually
  • Like white wine in appearance
  • Mild tasting with light acidity, bitterness or astringency
  • Low in calories
  • No vintage, drink within one to two years unless a Koshu (aged sake)
  • Free from preservatives
